We have looked at Vision, Mission and Strategy in the past two days. We begin by identifying a personal vision and mission statements and move on to setting personal strategy.
Let’s take it that you have accomplished your vision and mission with your effective strategies. What next?
You are good at what you do but who knows about what you do? Your skills, your profession and your vocations acquired are lying dormant because you did not make yourself available to the market or people who could “buy” from you.
I would like us to take steps on how to market yourself to your chosen market using AIDA Model.
In marketing a product or service, one needs to follow steps prescribed by marketing experts if you need to achieve your desired level of sales.
AIDA is an acronym used in marketing and advertising which describes a common list of events that may occur when a consumer engages with an advertisement.
- A – Attention (Awareness): attract the attention of the customer.
- I – interest: raise customer interest by focusing on and demonstrating advantages and benefits (instead of focusing on features, as in traditional advertising).
- D – Desire: convince customers that they want and desire the product or service and that it will satisfy their needs.
- A – Action: lead customers towards taking action and/or purchasing the product/service.
The term and approach are commonly attributed to American advertising and sales pioneer, E. St. Elmo Lewis.
Application of AIDA Model in Personal Life
See yourself as a skilful person that people may need your services from which you charge them to make money for yourself. In this wise, you need to generate the necessary attention to yourself.
This attention will grow into interest about people getting to know you. Attention level is reached when you have been contacted by potential clients on what you can do for that client-in-the-making! Finally, you have been offered the opportunity to serve the client. That is the Action level. The client could continue to introduce you to other potential clients if you have delighted that client.
You need to enhance your skills and market yourself to a level that clients shall continue to flow to you in droves. That way, you shall maintain your personal finances in better shape. You shall eat from the land flowing with milk and honey!
